Repairing or Refurbishing the Disk Drive on Your Sinclair ZX Spectrum +3 or Amstrad CPC6128

Description

This is a service offered by PopeyMon to repair and refurbish the disk drive on your Sinclair 128k ZX Spectrum +3 or Amstrad CPC6128. I also offer a service to refurbish the tape drive (Datacorder) on a +2.

The disk drive can stop loading and saving. It can completely jam up. It can damage disks.

These problems can be caused by dirt, dust, heat, corrosion, physical damage to keys, the drive belts, the mechanism, poor PCBs, bad repairs and so on.

The disk drive repair service works like this:

1. You buy the service from this website, which includes the return postage. After checkout, I will send you the address to send the disk drive or your whole machine to. I can help you to decide what to do, if you give me the information about symptoms and background.
2. You package it up and send me your disk drive by extracting it from the case, or you can send me your whole Sinclair ZX Spectrum +3.
3. I carefully remove the existing disk drive, if you send the whole machine, and fix it.
4. I put the repaired disk drive back in to your +3, or if you have sent me just the drive, to one of my +3 test machines. I test it thoroughly and report back to you.
5. Optionally, I can perform repairs or other improvement work as requested by you. These services cost extra – please see the services I offer below.
6. I send the disk drive or +3 back to you, carefully packaged.

The costs are:

• £20 to repair the disk drive on a Sinclair ZX Spectrum +3. This covers an hour of labour and expertise only in testing, assessing or repairing.
• Return postage cost is added at Checkout. The postage to send to me will be met by you. It’s up to you who you use but I do not recommend Hermes /Evri.
